A plain-language guide to picking material by how the part will actually be used.
Material choice decides whether a print survives its job. We ask three questions: does it face heat, does it carry load, and does it need to look perfect up close?
PLA is stiff, precise, cheap and ideal for display models, jigs and indoor prototypes. It softens in a hot car, so never use it for anything that lives near an engine or a window in direct sun.
PETG trades a little crispness for real toughness and heat resistance. It is our default for functional brackets, enclosures and replacement parts that get handled daily.
Resin exists for detail. Miniatures, dental models and jewellery masters come off the printer with surfaces no filament printer can match — but the parts are more brittle and need careful post-curing.
